What is CherryPic?
CherryPic is a mobile app for sharing and discovery. With CherryPic, users simply upload a photo, insert a tagline, and connect. By combining the power of pictures with the depth of the Internet, the app is a Netflix for your life, a localized Pinterest, and a Tinder for activities.

Why use CherryPic?
The secret spot, the garage band, the hidden gem, and the hole in the wall. Every city has that must-do activity. Whether it’s the dim bar with a DJ spinning classics ‘til sunrise, the diner with the best food in town, or the patio with midnight movies under the stars, these are the places everyone should know about, but don’t.

That changes with CherryPic, a discovery engine for cities.

How does CherryPic work?
CherryPic is the world’s first app to combine images and information in one seamless user experience. It connects any picture in your phone with websites, social media pages, maps, or videos, all at the touch of a button.
• See a delicious burger? Connect to the restaurant’s menu directly through their Facebook page and see what else they offer.
• Know the next up-and-coming band playing this Friday? Share your photo and connect it to the band’s YouTube video and generate some buzz.
• What about that hidden café where all the artists hang out? Connect a Google Map that directs others to the secret location.

Who created CherryPic?
CherryPic was created by a team of six graduate students at McMaster interested in finding a way to generate community engagement by crowdsourcing a sense of place.

What’s the goal?
To connect the 30,000 students at McMaster with the community that surrounds them, in a format that is familiar, intuitive, and fun.
